Contracts Notebook Field Definitions

Below is a description of the fields contained in the main (or header) section of the Contracts notebook. Note that, because this screen scrolls horizontally, the screen excerpts and field definitions have been presented in segments. To add a record, see Adding a Contract Record.

Contract #

The contract number for the matter.

Name

The name or a description of the matter.

Cont. Type

The  type of contract.

Subtype

The subtype associated with the contract type.

Stage

The stage of the contract. Select this value from a dropdown menu when adding or updating a record.

Office

The office handling the contract. Select this value from a dropdown menu.

N

Status Flag

Indicates whether the contract is opened or closed.

Status

The status of the contract (e.g., opened, closed, dismissed).

Effective Date

The effective date of the contract.

N (optional)  

Expiration Date

The expiration or termination date of the contract.

N

Separate License Agreement

A checkbox field to specify if there is a separate or related license agreement (e.g., a consulting services contract sometimes has a separate license agreement).

Length of Term

The length of the term of the contract in years.

N

Desc

A narrative description of the contract.

N

Practice Area

The practice area handling the contract.

N (optional)

Length of renewal Term

The length of time for the renewal term.

N

Termination Notice

The length of the renewal term of the contract in years.

N

Renewal Notice

The number of days required to notify for renewal of the contract.

N

Assignable

Indicates if the contract can be assigned or transferred to another person. Select a value from the dropdown menu.
