Law Manager integrates with OpenText Livelink -- eDOCS DM (formerly Hummingbird DM5) to manage documents associated with matters or cases in your Matters notebook DM5 tab. LawManager allows you to identify and organize documents, and eDOCS DM stores document profiles (with pieces of information identifying and classifying the document, e.g. Matter Number, which appear on the DM5 tab).
LawManager enables you to search easily through your Matters notebooks for specific documents. For each matter, you can easily sort, group, and rearrange columns on the DM5 tab to access documents quickly. You also can launch into Hummingbird DM5 through the DM5 tab to view and edit the documents associated with your matters. Below are illustrations of the DM5 tab:
Notice that the DM5 tab contains several pieces of information about the documents associated with the matter Acme, Inc. vs. Sandra Jones. Each document has a Name, Number, Author, Application associated with the Document, Document Type, Creation Date, Last Date the Document was edited, etc. This information is the profile information stored in Hummingbird DM5. Below is an illustration of how Hummingbird DM5 stores the same information:
Above you see several pieces of information found in the Matters notebook DM5 tab in Law Manager, for example, the Document Name and Number, Author, Document Type, Matter Number, etc. This dialog box is a default profile screen. Administrators of Hummingbird DM5 can add and remove fields seen on the Document Profile dialog box.
If desired, a developer could even configure the DM5 tab in Law Manager to look as much like the Hummingbird DM5 profile screen as possible.
Note: The information on the DM5 tab of the Matters notebook is read-only, since the profile information for each document is stored in Hummingbird DM5.
You can select criteria in Law Manager searches to locate and access documents in the DM5 tab. Below is an example:
In the example above, we're specifically looking for documents Joe Goodyear authored in 2005. Remember you also can combine search criteria from the main section of the Matters notebook, too.
It’s easy to launch into documents stored in Hummingbird DM5. Below is a set of instructions on how to open a document using the DM5 tab in the LawManager Matters notebook:
|
You will see a list of documents related to the Matter. Note: You may see a login screen asking you to log into Hummingbird DM5 first. |
|
You will be ready to launch into Hummingbird DM5 to view your document. |
|
You will be launched into Hummingbird DM5’s Content View screen. You’ll see a window asking you to save or open the document to which you launched from the DM5 tab. See the screenshot below. |
|
You will be able to open the document to revise it if necessary or save it to your desktop or network. |
Using Law Manager to organize your document information and to view the documents you have stored in Hummingbird DM5 will allow you to access, edit, and organize documents associated with matters quickly and efficiently.
